Fasting simply is a rest from food; you will be surprised and wonder what fasting has to do with health and weight loss. Fasting is a matter of house cleaning, it increases energy and extends life. Strangely, some diets — such as spiritual fasting — turn out to be more beneficial to our souls than our bodies, which might be one of the reasons they are so hard to follow. Spiritual fasting re-births and regenerates our spiritual willpower by filling our inner knowing with the direct experience of new physical, emotional and spiritual strength. Spiritual fasting cleans the body-mind and feeds the spirit, allowing our physical bodies to better extract the Divine cosmic energy from our normal biochemical energy sources.

Spiritual Fasting has some importance in almost every religion. If you choose a "juice" fast I suggest juicing using a juicer which pulverizes the pulp, peel, etc. They say after 24 hours to end the fast, the best thing for you to eat is a raw coleslaw cabbage made up of chopped cabbage, grated carrots, and beets with a fresh lemon juice as a dressing. Try to drink fresh juices, if possible. The natural sugars in juices provide energy, and the taste and strength are motivational to continue your fast. Since vegetable juices are "restorers" and "builders," they are best taken in the afternoon. " Fruit juices are "cleansers" and are best taken in the morning. The best juices are fresh carrot, grape, celery, apple, cabbage, or beet. I do fast with juice (100% juice, organic if possible) and at least a gallon of water per day.
